Bachmann 31-350 Class 03 Diesel Shunting Locomotive. 00 gauge.
Purchased from Beatties of Cardiff and virtually unused, still needs running-in having been in the box for years. A nice little loco for that small shunting layout, now fully weathered. The vulnerable plastic horn has been replaced with metal.
This is D2000 and was purchased new from Beatties of Cardiff, in the good old days when there was a Beatties in Cardiff, but subsequently never saw service on a layout, and has been for years stored in the box; consequently, having been serviced it runs well but would improve with running-in as do most of these Bachmann split-chassis types. The loco has now been fully weathered using some more advanced techniques, particularly where corrosion is concerned, and the very vulnerable plastic horn on the cab front has been replaced with metal, filed to shape. The electric lamps have been picked out to display the correct BR lamp code for a shunting loco, of one white and one red lamp over each buffer, displayed at each end of the locomotive. The box is complete with original tissue paper and instructions, and with the Beatties stock label on one end. The box is aged but very presentable, and of historical interest with the demise of Beatties. If you are building one of those small shunting layouts then this little loco may suit you; it is quite heavy for its size offering good traction. Analogue control; although some people have squeezed in DCC and sound into the Bachmann 03. Just needs a nice little weathered layout to run it.
